If the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, the journey of an earthship must begin with
a few acres of land (preferably beautiful and inspiring land). So it is that I find myself in the peculiar process of purchasing
real estate in Taos, New Mexico. The 6 acre piece of sage-covered mesa is located about two miles south and west of the bridge along the Rio Grande Gorge, with
easement access right up to the rim. It's rather expensive by my budget, but very attractively priced
when compared with similar parcels in the area. My practical side is pressing me to be soft on the details until
ownership becomes a reality, at which time (with the blessing of the seller) I will post the details of the whole transaction on this website.
Being so close to considering myself serious about this goal, I felt it was time to launch this personal website, which I will use to chronicle
my progress as well as provide valuable resources for people of like pursuit. One such resource, an email list service
is already active and accepting subscribers. I hope for the list service to follow in the tradition of the old Yahoo ESOB list which I
miss quite a bit, and will doubtless be needing recourse to in the years ahead. Some correspondence with the host of the old list,
David Knapp, gave me the sense that there is still significant demand for
a serious forum on the subject, which I am only too happy to accommodate. An outline of plans for this site, as well as a contact address to
voice your suggestions, can be found in the knowledge section. More to come in the week's ahead.

My neighbor's llama. Strangely enough, my future neighbors are also from New Jersey. Small world.
